CALENDAR NEWS!!!!
We will be starting student scheduling for the 2010-2011 school year in February. By February, the course guide should be posted on the school's homepage. Please refer to this when discussing with your child what courses he/she should take. Students will be bringing a copy of their course schedule home to be signed by a parent and returned to their counselor. Following are the new graduation requirements beginning in 2010-2011. Please note that those students graduating in May 2010 will not follow these requirements.
Total number of credits required for graduation = 22
4 years of English
3 years of Math
3 years of Science
3 years of Social Studies (including 1 credit from U.S. History)
1/2 credit consumer education
1/2 credit health
1/2 credit government
1/2 credit communications
PE ( each semester)
1 credit from Music, Art, Foreign Language or Career & Technical Education
PSAE Testing is April 27th and 28th. Please help your student prepare this exam by going to www.act.org for sample test questions and helpful testing suggestions.
EAWR ON-CAMPUS STUDY HELPS:
-Math Lab-This is an opportunity for those students struggling in Math to receive extra help during the school day.
Please contact your student's Math teacher for more information.
-Seminar- Students have the opportunity to receive extra help. Students must have a seminar pass in advance.
-Advisory-Students meet with their advisor (a faculty member) in a small group setting. topics range from home-
work/grades to planning for a career. Advisory meets every Wednesday.
-Evening Tutoring-A great opportunity to receive extra help. Evening tutoring meets Monday through Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 in the Library. You do not have to sign up beforehand to attend.
